Schizophrenia is a serious mental disorder. But this disease does not mean the end of life. Treatment is also possible if detected in time. The Director of the Center for Psychotraumatology and Research spoke to Kalbela about the matter.
Many people are affected by schizophrenia in our country. In most cases, the disease remains undiagnosed. Schizophrenia is a serious mental disorder. It has five common symptoms.
Dilution:
This is giving yourself a kind of false sense. Like, some people believe that he is a big celebrity and someone is following him all the time. This is called prosecutorial delusion.
Or if one believes that what one is thinking is actually being controlled by another, then this is called a Delusion of Control. In this case, the patient starts to believe that someone comes to him at night, who is fixing everything—what I should do, what he should eat or not, etc.
Delusion of grandiosity develops in the patient such a belief that he starts to think of himself as the grand master of the country. He thinks that everyone around him is his fan and everyone considers him an idol.
Hallucinations:
In this case, abnormal perception is created in the patient. The patient will hear many things and will respond to imaginary sounds. To a healthy person standing in front, it would appear that the patient is quite naturally speaking to an invisible person.
Disoriented Speech:
Disoriented speech means incoherent speech. The patient will lose his ability to speak normally. The patient will think that it is possible to achieve something greater than his capabilities. For example, if the patient is from the lower class, he can say, I will start working on the 10-story house next month or I am going to travel abroad with my family for three months.
Inappropriate behavior:
In this case, the patient behaves aggressively. It can be with yourself or others. Others behave abnormally in a normal manner. As the patient is sitting to eat and shows the empty chair next to him and says, I left this food for you.
Negative behavior:
Such patients become somewhat numb. It was seen that even if someone close to him died, there was no change in his mind. It will be seen that he is not reacting even if he gets any good news. In this case, the patient will have less sleep, less interest in work, less sexual ability and he will want to be socially isolated.
If the symptoms appear, the patient needs urgent treatment. If the patient understands his own problem, then it is neurosis. It can be treated quickly. And if you don’t feel the problem, it is called psychosis.
Schizophrenia can occur at any age after puberty. It can also occur in students. This disease can also be due to genetics.
As a first step, talk to the patient openly without laughing. Give him emotional support. Be especially alert if someone around you suddenly becomes silent or changes in their behavior. Consult a psychiatrist immediately. Such patients may develop suicidal tendencies if not treated on time.
